The best dry shampoo for cats in India is a no-rinse formula made for cats, mild and lightly scented, that you can massage in by hand without a tub. For the most-reviewed option, Burt’s Bees Waterless Cat Shampoo. For a foam for cats and dogs, Natural Remedies Fresh Me Up. For a clean, quiet foam with no synthetic fragrance, made for cats and dogs, a formula such as Furrytail Dry Foam Shampoo. And remember: for a sticky mess, a skin problem or a cat that can’t groom, a dry shampoo is a stopgap, not the answer.
How we put this list together: we looked at the top results for “dry shampoo for cats” and “waterless shampoo for cats” on Amazon.in, checked on 18 October 2026, and grouped the popular products by format and job. We describe each one by what its own label and listing say; we did not lab-test any of them.

Does your cat need a dry shampoo at all?
Healthy cats spend hours a day grooming, and most short-haired cats keep themselves clean. A dry shampoo is useful when:
- a long-haired cat, like a Persian, has a greasy or slightly dirty coat
- an older, overweight or arthritic cat can’t reach its back or bottom
- your cat has brushed against something dusty or slightly dirty
- your cat hates water and you want to avoid a full bath
- you’re travelling or a bath just isn’t practical
If your cat suddenly stops grooming, smells bad or has a greasy, flaky coat, see your vet. Under-grooming is often a sign of pain, illness or weight gain. See why does my cat smell bad and cat dandruff and greasy fur.
Foam or spray for a cat?
- Foam is quieter. Many cats are frightened by the hiss of a spray, so you can dispense foam into your hand first and massage it in. It is also easier to keep away from the face.
- Spray is quick, but spray it into your hand or onto a cloth rather than straight at your cat if the sound bothers it.
Whichever you choose, start with a small patch and let your cat sniff your hand first.
Ratings tell you what sells. The label tells you what’s inside.
A cat licks its coat for hours, so whatever a no-rinse product leaves behind gets groomed off. A product with thousands of ratings tells you many people bought it. It doesn’t tell you what your cat will be grooming off afterwards. That is on the label: whether it is made for cats, the cleansers, the preservative and the fragrance. So for every pick, we read the label as well as the reviews.
1. Most reviewed: Burt’s Bees Waterless Cat Shampoo
With more than 12,700 ratings, Burt’s Bees’ waterless shampoo is by far the most-reviewed dry shampoo made specifically for cats on Amazon.in. It is a 10 oz no-rinse spray.
2. Foam for cats and dogs: Natural Remedies Fresh Me Up
A mild waterless foam cleanser for dogs, cats and pups with more than 1,000 ratings at 4.3 stars, described as moisturising and conditioning, for daily use.
3. Best clean, quiet foam: Furrytail Dry Foam Shampoo
A dry shampoo for a cat is different from one for a dog: nothing is rinsed off, and a cat will groom over every patch you’ve touched. Dry Foam Shampoo is made for cats and dogs to clean the coat and then stay quiet, with no synthetic fragrance and a foam you can massage in by hand, so there’s no hiss and no tub. What the carton says:
- Made for cats and dogs. No-rinse and leave-on safe.
- Absorbs surface oils and neutralises odour, with a light conditioning finish from aloe vera, panthenol and glycerin.
- Probiotic preserved.
- What’s out: synthetic surfactants, parabens, MIT and synthetic fragrance.
- A quiet scent: hinoki cypress and bamboo. Read the Hinoki & Bamboo scent notes.
- Full ingredient list on the carton.
- How to use it on a cat: shake well, dispense the foam into your hand or apply from 15 cm, massage gently through the coat, and let it dry in 60–90 seconds. Avoid the eyes and face.
Good to know: it is for between baths, not a substitute for a vet visit when a cat stops grooming. Start with a small area while your cat gets used to it.
Best for: long-haired cats, older cats who can’t groom well, cats who won’t go near water, and homes with both cats and dogs.
4. Kittens: Moe Puppy Waterless Dry Shampoo
A 150 ml waterless shampoo for dogs and cats with more than 360 ratings, listed as safe for puppies and kittens. The brand also makes a 300 ml version just for cats. Check the minimum age on the label.
5. Made for cats: Pets Empire Waterless Cat Shampoo
A 250 ml waterless shampoo made specifically for cats, with more than 120 ratings, in strawberry and aloe vera scents.

6. Cat-specific foam: Petroyale Dry Bath Foam Shampoo for Cats
A 150 ml foam made for cats, with more than 110 ratings, described as stress-free and nourishing.
7. No-rinse hygiene spray: Himalaya FreshCoat No Rinse Spray

8. Multi-pet homes: Lozalo Dry Bath Spray
A 200 ml waterless spray for dogs, cats, puppies and kittens with more than 200 ratings.
9. From a pharma brand: Mankind BubbleStar Waterless Dry Bath
From Mankind Pharma’s pet range, a neem and aloe vera 2-in-1 waterless shampoo and conditioner for dogs and cats.
10. Persians: Pet Life Dry Bath Shampoo for Cats
A waterless cat shampoo listed for Persian and short-haired cats and kittens. See our Persian cat grooming guide for long coats.
How to clean a cat without a bath
- Brush first. Brushing removes loose hair, dust and dandruff and is most of what a cat’s coat needs. Use a soft brush for short coats and a wide-toothed comb for long ones.
- Spot-clean with a damp, soft cloth for small messes, wiping in the direction of the fur.
- Use a dry shampoo on greasy or dusty areas: a little foam in your hand, massaged in gently, then brushed through once dry.
- Clean the bottom carefully on long-haired cats with a damp cloth; ask a groomer or vet about a hygiene trim.
- Wipe the face with a separate damp cloth. Keep products away from the eyes.
- Reward with treats, and stop if your cat gets stressed. Short sessions work best.
Our verdict: the dry shampoo we’d use on a cat
The most-reviewed products at the top of this list have earned their place. But for a cat, a dry shampoo has to pass a stricter test than for any other pet: it isn’t rinsed off, it’s groomed off. So the label matters more than the star rating.
Here is the checklist we’d use, and how Furrytail Dry Foam Shampoo measures up:
| What to look for | Why it matters for a cat | Furrytail Dry Foam Shampoo |
|---|---|---|
| Made for cats | Not every pet product is | Made for cats and dogs |
| Made to stay on | Nothing is rinsed off | No-rinse, leave-on safe formula |
| No synthetic fragrance | A cat’s nose is far more sensitive than ours | No synthetic fragrance; quiet hinoki and bamboo |
| Quiet to apply | Many cats fear the hiss of a spray | A foam you can massage in by hand |
| Kind preservation | The preservative stays on the coat too | Probiotic preserved; no parabens or MIT |
| Actually cleans | It should lift oil, not just scent | Absorbs surface oils and neutralises odour |
The most-reviewed products win on popularity. Read the labels, though, and Dry Foam is the one made to tick every line of this checklist. For a cat who won’t go near water, Dry Foam Shampoo is the one we’d choose. For the occasional real bath, see our best cat shampoo review.
