The best anti-tick spray for your dog depends on whether you are treating ticks or keeping them away. For a dog that already has ticks or fleas, a fipronil spray such as Vivaldis Vi-Fi Forte, the most-reviewed tick spray on Amazon.in, used as your vet directs. For the walk you take every day through grass, parks and lanes, a pesticide-free repellent spray you can use before every walk. And for year-round protection in tick-heavy parts of India, ask your vet about a preventive tablet or spot-on: no spray replaces one.
How we put this list together: we looked at the top results for “anti tick spray for dogs” on Amazon.in and the tick and flea range at Supertails, checked on 18 October 2026, and grouped the popular sprays by what they actually do. We describe each one by what its own label and listing say; we did not lab-test any of them.

Kill or deter? The two kinds of tick spray
Almost every tick spray in India falls into one of two groups, and they are not interchangeable.
| Medicated (fipronil) sprays | Natural repellent sprays | |
|---|---|---|
| What they do | Kill ticks and fleas on contact | Help deter ticks and fleas through scent |
| When to use | An active infestation, as your vet directs | Before walks, as part of daily care |
| How often | As the label or your vet says, usually spaced weeks apart | Before every walk in tick-active places |
| Active ingredients | Fipronil, a veterinary insecticide | Plant oils and extracts such as neem, vetiver, eucalyptus, lemongrass |
| Good to know | Follow age, weight and species limits closely | They don’t kill or remove ticks already attached |
If your dog already has ticks, a natural spray is not enough. Remove attached ticks carefully and talk to your vet. Our guide to ticks, fleas and the Indian dog shows how.
If your dog is tick-free and you want to keep it that way, a medicated spray every day is the wrong tool. That is the job of a repellent, alongside whatever preventive your vet recommends.
Ratings tell you what sells. The label tells you what’s inside.
A tick spray with thousands of ratings tells you many people bought it, usually in a hurry, after finding ticks. It doesn’t tell you whether it is something you’d want on your dog’s coat before every single walk. That answer is on the label: the active ingredient, the species and age limits, and what else is in the bottle. So for every pick, we read the label as well as the reviews.
1. Most reviewed: Vivaldis Vi-Fi Forte Spray
With more than 3,700 ratings on Amazon.in, Vi-Fi Forte is the most-reviewed tick spray in India. It is a fipronil spray for dogs and cats, and the listing describes it as fast-acting and long-lasting, for treating acute infestations. Vivaldis also makes a Vi-Fi Forte spot-on for longer protection.
Use it for: a dog that already has ticks or fleas, at the dose and interval on the label or from your vet.
2. Vet-pharmacy favourite: Savavet Fiprofort Spray
A fipronil tick and flea control spray for dogs and cats, sold in 100 ml and 250 ml bottles and a regular best seller on Supertails. Its sister product, Fiprofort Plus, is one of the best-selling spot-ons in India.
3. Best for daily use before every walk: Furrytail Defense Anti-Tick & Flea Spray
The sprays above are made to deal with ticks once they have arrived. Defense is made for the other 300 days of the year: the morning walk through the society garden, the evening walk past the empty plot, the weekend trail. It helps deter ticks and fleas before they climb on, using plant-derived actives instead of pesticides, so it is gentle enough to use before every walk. What the carton says:
- Plant-derived actives: vetiver root oil, hinoki cypress leaf oil, eucalyptus and neem. Read the Vetiver & Cypress scent notes.
- What’s out: permethrin, synthetic pyrethroids, DEET, fipronil and synthetic pesticides.
- Sensitive-skin, pH-balanced formulation, on an aloe vera and glycerin base.
- Full ingredient list on the carton, from aqua to citric acid, so you can check every line.
- How to use it: shake well, hold 20 cm from the coat and apply 6–8 sprays across the back, flanks and base of the tail, avoiding the eyes and mouth. Let it dry completely, then walk. Repeat before each walk in tick-active places.
Good to know: it is a repellent, not a treatment. It does not kill or remove ticks that are already attached, so keep checking your dog after walks, and see your vet for an active infestation. It is for dogs only. Check with your vet before using it on a puppy.
Best for: city dogs walked daily through parks, gardens and grassy lanes, and owners who want tick protection without putting a pesticide on the coat every day.
4. From an animal-health major: Virbac Effipro Spray
Virbac’s fipronil spray for dogs and cats is rated 4.4 stars on Amazon.in and is also a steady seller on Supertails. Virbac is one of the largest animal-health companies, and Effipro is a common vet recommendation for active infestations.
5. Most-reviewed botanical spray: Neem Shield Tick, Flea, Flea Egg Spray
With more than 4,100 ratings, Neem Shield is the most-reviewed plant-based tick spray on Amazon.in. It is a 200 ml spray for dogs and cats made with botanical oils, and the listing describes it as both a treatment and a preventive.
6. Natural spray from a pharma brand: Bark Out Loud Natural Tick & Flea Spray
Bark Out Loud is Vivaldis’ natural range. Its 200 ml tick and flea spray for dogs and cats has nearly 600 ratings on Amazon.in and is also sold on Supertails. The listing describes it as gentle on skin.
7. Indian animal-health brand: Venky’s Freedom Spray
Venky’s Freedom is a fipronil tick and flea control spray for dogs and cats, sold on Supertails. A good choice if your vet recommends fipronil and you prefer an Indian animal-health brand.
8. Citronella and lemongrass: Moe Puppy Anti Tick Spray
A 100 ml natural repellent for dogs and cats with lemongrass, citronella, eucalyptus and rosemary oils and aloe vera extract, with more than 180 ratings.
9. Tulsi and eucalyptus: Fur Ball Story Herbal Tick & Flea Spray
A 100 ml herbal spray for dogs with eucalyptus, tulsi and lemongrass, with more than 120 ratings. The listing says it helps repel ticks and fleas and freshens the coat.
10. For beds, sofas and corners: Natural Remedies Nomoticks Home Spray
Ticks don’t only live on dogs. They hide in bedding, cracks, sofa seams and corners, which is why a dog can keep picking them up indoors. Nomoticks is a home spray for pet beds, furniture and cracks, with more than 170 ratings. Use it on the house, not on your dog, and wash bedding in hot water.
Beyond sprays: what your vet may recommend
Many of India’s best-selling tick products aren’t sprays at all. On Supertails, the top sellers include oral tablets such as Bravecto (fluralaner) and Simparica (sarolaner), spot-ons such as Fiprofort Plus, tick collars such as Kiltix, and powders such as Himalaya Erina-EP.
These give longer, steadier protection than any spray, but the right one depends on your dog’s age, weight, breed and health. Ask your vet before starting any of them, and tell your vet about any spray you already use.

Why ticks matter so much in India
India’s warm, humid climate means ticks are active for much of the year, peaking in the summer and monsoon. They aren’t just itchy: ticks can carry diseases such as ehrlichiosis and babesiosis, often called “tick fever”, which can make dogs seriously ill.
See your vet quickly if your dog shows fever, low energy, loss of appetite, pale gums, bleeding from the nose or dark urine, especially after you’ve found ticks.
How to keep ticks off your dog
- Use a repellent before walks in grass, parks and lanes, and let it dry before you go.
- Check after every walk. Run your fingers over the ears, neck, armpits, between the toes and under the tail.
- Remove ticks properly. Grip close to the skin with fine tweezers or a tick hook and pull steadily. Don’t squeeze, burn or twist.
- Clean the paws after walks. A paw cleaner helps, and it’s a good moment for a tick check.
- Treat the home: wash bedding weekly and clean corners and cracks.
- Ask your vet about a preventive in peak season or tick-heavy areas.
- Bathe regularly with a gentle shampoo. Read natural tick repellents for dogs for what works and what doesn’t.
A warning about cats
Never use a dog tick product on a cat unless the label says it is for cats. Some dog products contain permethrin, which is highly toxic to cats. Several fipronil sprays in this list are labelled for both dogs and cats, but always check. Furrytail Defense is for dogs only.
Our verdict: the tick spray we’d use before every walk
If your dog has ticks right now, use a fipronil spray or the treatment your vet prescribes. That is what they are for, and they have the reviews to prove it.
But most of the time your dog doesn’t have ticks. It has a walk to go on. The spray that matters most is the one you’ll use before every one of those walks, and that changes what “best” means. A spray you use daily should keep ticks away without putting a pesticide on your dog’s coat every morning, and it should be gentle enough for daily use.
Here is the checklist we’d use, and how Furrytail Defense measures up:
| What to look for | Why it matters | Furrytail Defense |
|---|---|---|
| No synthetic pesticides | You’ll use it before every walk, not once a month | No permethrin, synthetic pyrethroids, DEET or fipronil |
| Plant-derived actives | To deter ticks before they climb on | Vetiver, hinoki cypress, eucalyptus and neem |
| Gentle on skin | Daily use means daily contact | Sensitive-skin, pH-balanced; aloe vera and glycerin base |
| A full ingredient list | You should know what goes on your dog | Full INCI printed on the carton |
| Easy to use daily | If it’s a hassle, it won’t get used | 6–8 sprays from 20 cm, dry and go |
| A pleasant scent | Your dog wears it all walk | Light vetiver and cypress, not a chemical smell |
The medicated sprays win on reviews, and they earn them for treatment. But for the spray that goes on your dog before every walk, the label matters more than the star rating, and Defense is the one made to tick every line of this checklist. Keep a vet-recommended treatment for when ticks get through, and for every walk in between, Defense is the one we’d choose.
